Roulette is named after the French word meaning little wheel. Players may choose to place bets on either a single number or a range of numbers, the colors red or black, or whether the number is odd or even.
To determine the winning number and color, a croupier spins a wheel in one direction, then spins a ball in the opposite direction around a tilted circular track running around the circumference of the wheel. The ball eventually loses momentum and falls onto the wheel and into one of 38 colored and numbered pockets on the wheel. In block-roulette, bitcoin miners play the role of the croupier and determine where the ball falls. All bets and payouts are public and auditable and the action of the ball is beyond control of the house or the player.
Instructions
First, check the table status to make sure the block height is current and to see the table balance. The croupier cannot pay out more than she has in hand. Winning bets which go over the table balance are forfeit. Don't bet too much.
To play Block-Roulette, choose your bet and copy the address, then send your bet to that address using a wallet of your choice.
Where the ball lies is determined by the last five hex digits of the block hash.
If your bet makes it into block N, it is a bet on the hash of block N+1, and your payout will arrive in block N+2.
Example :
Block 387795 had block hash: 0000000000000000032c282c264e21558a1972eb68c2a1ef6226c6eaf4f833dd
The last five hex digits are 833dd. In decimal this is 537565. This number modulo 38 is 17.
Therefore, in block 387795 the ball landed on 17, a black square.
Any bets on the number 17 in block 387794 would have been paid a multiple of 35 times the bet amount.
A bet on black appearing in block 387794 would have been paid 2 times the bet amount.
Odds on all bets are as for standard American roulette. If the number given by the modulo 38 operation is 0, the ball lies on the 0. If the number is 37, the ball lies on the "double 0" space.
